6.
7.
8.
Keep children away. Children must never be allowed in the work area. Do not let
them handle machines, tools, or extension cords.
Store idle equipment. When not in use, tools must be stored in a dry location to
inhibit rust. Always lock up tools and keep out of reach of children.
Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry as they can be caught in
moving parts. Protective, electrically nonconductive clothes and nonskid footwear are
recommended when working. Wear restrictive hair covering to contain long hair.
9.
Use eye and ear protection. Always wear ANSI approved impact safety goggles.
10. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Do not reach over
or across electrical cables or frames.
11. Stay alert. Watch what you are doing, use common sense. Do not operate any tool
when you are tired.
12. Check for damaged parts. Before using any tool, any part that appears damaged
should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its
intended function. Check for alignment and binding of moving parts; any broken parts
or mounting fixtures; and any other condition that may affect proper operation. Any
part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by a qualified
technician. Do not use the tool if any switch does not turn On and Off properly.
13. Replacement parts and accessories. When servicing, use only identical
replacement parts. Use of any other parts will void the warranty. Only use accessories
intended for use with this tool. Approved accessories are available from Harbor
Freight Tools.
14. Use proper power outlet. This pump has a three prong plug. The third prong (round)
is the ground. Plug the pump cord only into a three-prong, Ground Fault Circuit
Interrupter receptacle. Cutting off the ground prong will result in a safety hazard and
void the warranty.
15. Using Extension Cords. An extension cord up to 50 feet must have a wire size of 18
AWG; up to 100 feet must have a wire size of 16 AWG. Do not submerge extension
cords or make contact with water.
16. Use the right tool for the job. Do not attempt to force a small tool or attachment to
do the work of a larger industrial tool. There are certain applications for which this tool
was designed. Do not modify this tool and do not use this tool for a purpose for which
it was not intended.
17. Do not operate tool if under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Read warning
labels on prescriptions to determine if your judgment or reflexes are impaired while
taking drugs. If there is any doubt, do not operate the tool.
18. Pacemaker safety warning. People with pacemakers should consult with their
physician(s) before using this product; operation of equipment in close proximity to a
heart pacemaker could cause interference or failure of the pacemaker.
Note: Performance of this tool may vary depending on variations in local line voltage. Exten-
sion cord usage may also affect tool performance.

Warning: The warnings, cautions, and instructions discussed in this instruction manual
cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be under-
stood by the operator that common sense and caution are factors which cannot be
built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator.
Unpacking
When unpacking, check to make sure all parts are included. Refer to the Parts Diagram at
the end of this manual. If any parts are missing or broken, please call Harbor Freight Tools
at the number on the cover of this manual.
Operation
1.
2.
Connect drain hose to the Output Tie-in (30) discharge fitting.
This hose should be long enough to drain away from the reservoir being pumped. See
installation examples on the next page.
If the pump needs to be lowered into a pool or other deep reservoir, attach a rope to
the pump handle and lower into position. Never suspend the pump from the power
cord or discharge pipe.
The pump should rest on a flat, level, and solid foundation. Never operate on earth,
clay, sand, or gravel surfaces. Keep the pump inlet opening clear of debris. If the drain
piping runs in excess of 10 feet, it is recommended to use a check valve (not
included) to prevent back flow. To avoid air locks in the pump, drill an 1/8 inch hole in
the piping, between the check valve and the pump. Refer to the top-right illustration on
the next page.
Warning: Never use the line cord to carry the pump. Do not run the pump dry. It will
increase wear to the unit and cause possible seal damage.
3.
Connect the Power Cable to the Ground Fault Interrupter receptacle to begin
pumping.
Caution: The Float Switch must be floating in water for the pump to operate. It is meant
to shut off intermittently. Do not attempt to manipulate the switch to keep the pump
running continuously. Doing so will damage the pump.
Warning: Never allow the power cord or extension cord connection (if used) to come in
contact with ground water.
